Obama meets Karazai

The democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is on a foreign trip. On the first leg of his tour he has arrived in Afghanistan and has met US military commanders and sought information about their biggest concernt in the country. He has also met the US-installed Afghan president Hamid Karzai. They had luch together at the presidential palace.

The details of their meeting have not been disclosed to the press. Barack Obama has made it clear that he would send more troops to Afghanistan if he is elected as president. This is what Hamid Karzai also wishes because his continuation in power would be guaranteed as a result of continued American presence in the country.

It has been widely reported in the press that the Karzai government has not been able to solve any of the problems of Afghan people and his government is steeped in corruption. The money which poured into Afhanistan after the US attack has not been spent on the Afghan people. To top it all the writ of the Karzai government does not hold ground outside the city of Kabul.

I think that the Americans should make contact with the Afghan people instead of keeping all their eggs in Karzai basket.
